DEFY backstage correspondent and KISW 99.9 FM's KEVIN DIERS delivers another crushing Mixtape - this time for DEFY3.
" When you walk into Washington Hall, grab a drink and find your seat, the energy in the room is electric. There is a-lot of anticipation in the air and the key to my selections for the Defy3 playlist was to choose the most high octane, fast, and intense music to get everyone pumped up - a lot of which happens to be metal.
There are a couple of songs in here that don't EXACTLY fit that definition...specifically the Deftones and Soundgarden tracks. I had been listening to a ton of Chris Cornell's music that week (R.I.P.) and I felt it's important to keep his art fresh in our minds.
As far as the Deftones song....I mean, it's called SWERVE CITY! How couldn't I put it on there? Along with making a soundtrack for Defy3, this playlist also serves as badass motivation at the gym."
